SmartArtMarket

Presents a Fine Musical Instrument for sale:

1846 Vuillaume violin

During most of the nineteenth century, Jean Baptiste Vuillaume was the premier violin maker and dealer of collectible instruments in Paris. SmartArtMarket has been fortunate to locate one of his violins that has been repaired by a modern day luthier and master of his craft in Massachusetts. The instrument has a beautiful, rich tone and has been expertly set up. It is ready to play.

The instrument is from Vuillaume's shop on les Petits Champs in Paris, and dates to 1846. There have been repairs made to the instrument over time, but all work was recently rechecked and made to conform to a best practices standard of acoustic instrument repair. All white glues were removed and replaced with hide glue. A new bass bar and soundpost were made from woods similar to what were original to the instument. All bouts and braces were checked and reglued. A new bridge was cut and new ebony pegs were fitted to the headstock after the holes were reshaped.

This fine instrument was originally offered by SmartArtMarket for $10,000. We will, however, entertain serious offers. It may be viewed in person by appointment in Newburyport, MA (US). Contact us by email: info@smartartmarket.com, or by telephone: 978-265-6057, with any questions and/or clarifications you wish us to address.
